Layoff of Educational Assistants
Steinbach, MB. November 27, 2024 – It is with disappointment that the 91¸£Àû announces the issuance of layoff notices to approximately 93 of our valued educational assistants. This difficult decision arose from circumstances beyond our immediate control, specifically the unexpected loss of federal funding for Jordan’s Principle programming in the 2024-25 school year.
We recognize the significant impact this decision will have on our educational assistants, students, and school communities. 91¸£Àû remains committed to supporting affected employees and minimizing disruption to student learning while continuing to advocate for students and families. The Division is actively working to restore funding and secure long-term solutions to sustain these critical supports.
